Shopping at the cheap markets in Brussels
Brussels has a lot of markets in different places around the city. These markets are very colourful. Shopping at these markets is an enjoyable way to spend some time. You will not spend much money, because the products sold are ridiculously cheap.
The biggest market of Brussels is the "Midi Market", every Sunday morning, near the Gare de Midi railway station (see map beneath). You will find food, plants, flowers, clothes and general stuff at the Midi market
For those who like flea markets, there is on every morning from 7h to 14h at the Place du Jeu de Balle (Vossenplein in Dutch), not very far from the Gare de midi. In the streets close to the market you will find a lot of second-hand shops. Look for the streets "Rue Haute", "Rue Blase" and "Square du Sablon" for your second-hand cheap shopping.
Flowers can be bought at the daily flower market on the central place (Grand’Place de bruxelles)
For antique stuff you have to be on saturday or sunday morning at the Place du Grand Sablon (see map)
The Anderlecht market is the cheapest of all, you will see lots of mediterranean products, meat, chicken, fish, bananas, melons, olives and clothing.
